Re: BURDEN OF COMMAND
Parece interesante, pero solamente se puede jugar de yanqui?
Re: BURDEN OF COMMAND
Magnífica pinta, la verdad. A ver si cumple con lo esperado.

Re: BURDEN OF COMMAND
¡Hola amigos!
Realmente ayuda.

Joselillo said I can English! Probably safer for all of us LOL. And your English is probably better than mine anyway! At least that's what I find with most Europeans.
And thanks for the welcome. Happy to answer questions,
Luke

Re: BURDEN OF COMMAND
Hi, wellcome to the forum.
I know about game when appear in... Matrix forums maybe??? i dont remember were i see it first if Matrix forums or rockpapershotgun.
I dont remember a "wargame RPG" at tactical scale, at this level is all about count bullets and maybe closer thing could be "Close combat" where you track individual soldiers and you follow their combat performance.
The idea is interesting but i dont know if is going to be soldier detailed like in CC or simple leave that individual details to squad-platoon leaders being squads-platoons more abstract, i refer no individual soldier-weapon detail like in CC, something more like old "Combat Mission" or "Steel Panthers" that used less detailed info for infantry units.
Is good track an unit war path but maybe i prefer a battle-campaign enviroment and time scale to have different points of view, other units and other sides, here i think play with different combat situations not necesary with "good ending" option (for example follow a company in Stalingrad battle as german or soviet but with no victory options.... and why not japanese in Iwo Jima) or moving to a non infantry company, we have armored, comando or cavalry units (soviets did a relative good use of mounted units, germans a little less and japanese used them to).
Spanish civil war could offer interesting ambientation and is possible select an unit and track it in main battles, i refer to one of the units in the "Ejercito de maniobra" the "elite" spearhead in main battles of the war.
I still dont know what expect from the game, maybe we can see more about game in future, thanks for info and good luck

Re: BURDEN OF COMMAND
Thanks! We focus on the leaders. Squads are treated as single units. Not modeled soldier by soldier. Our goal is to model the psychology of leadership and units on the battlefield: morale, suppression, Trust, experience etc. The tactics focus on the use of leader and core infantry tactics like: flanking, surprise, combined arms, height advantage, and using suppression before closing to force a surrender, retreat, or melee.
Hope that helps a bit. I know Combat Mission. Fine game. We are less about modeling the bullets and more about the people on the battlefield.
best,
Luke

Thanks for joining the forum and participating it. Are you talking with veterans to discuss the feeling of the game and if what you want to model is being correctly modeled based on the experience from them?
Cheers,

Excitado al escuchar algo así. Un enfoque muy original e interesante.lhughes41 escribió: We are less about modeling the bullets and more about the people on the battlefield.

Excited to learn about it . An original and interesting point of view.

Re: BURDEN OF COMMAND
Thanks for the reply and info
Then we can expect less tactical combat like in wargames in same scale like could be, "Campaign series", "Squad battles", "Lock and load" and similar tactical games (pure PC games or tabletop conversions...that are in a gold age with PC conversions).
The closer game i could "link" with Burden of Command is the first "Dune" game, that was more into "RPG" than combat oposite to "Dune 2" that open the "Command Conquer" game style... game looks more into take decisions (tactical and moral) with combat being important but more secondary compared with other tactical wargames.
I am going to follow it with interest, "gracias" to come here and spend your time with us

Re: BURDEN OF COMMAND
Hi folks:
-- are we talking to veterans -- Heavily! Many vets involved on team and playtesters. Plus historian John McManus is closely advising. Please take a look at https://burdenofcommand.com/team and scroll down to "military advisors." Our scenario lead designer is former military and did many successful scenarios for Combat Mission. Steve "Mad Russian" Overton.
-- tactical vs RPG -- We're a leadership RPG. But leadership takes place on the battlefield as well as off. So on the battlefield we are very tactical in the spirit of Squad Leader or Steel Panthers or Combat Mission. Off the battlefield is classic RPG with "choose your own adventures" choices like you might see in a a Banner Saga or Shadowrun or any RPG
More detail on tactical. Because we are leader and human focused the battlefield is like Close Combat but with a leadership focus:
-- An article about at Flare Path on Rock, Paper, Shotgun -- with our tactical teaser (scroll down past the gladiator game): http://bit.ly/2A6mGIf
-- how we are influenced tactically by classic games like Squad Leader, Combat Commander and More -- Guest blog at ThePlayersAid: http://bit.ly/2JrfZDK
Hope this helps,
Luke
