So you always wanted to be in the special forces? You’ve tried the SWAT team, Delta, Seals, SAS and other outfits? Time to up the stakes and go where the real men are. Russia ’s elite, the Alfa group, is now waiting for you.

You may already now that a significant portion of software games are actually developed in Russia and then repackaged for European and US consumers. Along comes a new title ALFA Antiterror developed mostly for the Russian market but a demo is now available in English with a release soon to follow.

So who are these Alfa dudes? Initially a small special force instated during soviet times to deal with “special situations” they are best taught of as a mixture of “SWAT” and commandoes. They usually operate with great discretion so not much is known about them. The 2 most recent occasions where they were in the eye of the mediatic storm were a massive hostage taking in a Moscow theater (about 50 heavily armed terrorists including suicide bombers taking about 800 people hostage) in 2002 and in a school in Beslan (about 30 terrorists and over 1000 hostages) in 2004. Both situations unfortunately resulted in heavy civilian casualties. Other than that Alfa has been extensively operating in Chechnya where there has been a mix of insurgency and terror warfare since 1996. And this pretty much sets the background for the game.

El Grupo Alfa (en ruso: Группа Альфа) es una unidad antiterrorista de operaciones especiales del Servicio Federal de Seguridad (FSB) de la Federación Rusa y, antiguamente, del KGB de la Unión Soviética. Sus miembros se entrenan en condiciones extremas por 4 años antes de entrar en el Grupo, se dice que oficialmente solo 4 de sus miembros han muerto en combate (hasta el Asalto al teatro de Moscú).

Pues sí que se parece al Combat Mission, desde en el menú de selección de acciones para cada soldado, hasta en el modo en que se solucionan los turnos.
Marcas tus movimientos, y luego ves la"película" de tus movimientos y los de la IA.

En los comentarios que he visto por internet hablan de la gran dificultad del juego. Habrá que verlo

Tiene una campaña, varias operaciones, y la posibilidad de jugar via hot-seat o Lan.

In October 1985, Alfa was dispatched to Beirut, Lebanon, when four Soviet diplomats had been taken hostage by a Sunni militant group. By the time Alfa was onsite, one of the hostages had already been killed. The perpetrators and their relatives were identified by supporting KGB operatives, and the relatives were taken hostage. Following the standard policy of 'no negotiation', Alfa proceeded to sever some of their hostages' body parts and sent them to the perpetrators with a warning that more would follow if the Russian hostages were not released immediately. The tactic was a success and no other Russian national was taken hostage in the Middle East for the next 20 year

Que levante un dedo el que tenga huevos de meterse con estos rusos, pero que no levante la mano.

Recuerda en lo referente al equipar a tus soldados etc, al Hidden and Dangerous, pero el Alpha es totalmente por turnos, y difícil.

Primera misión de campaña, 2 intentos, y los rebeldes chechenos me han liquidado. Si el enemigo se asoma por un ruido que hace o un aliado lo ve etc aparece un icono de una diana roja que te indica la zona, y si alguien lo vio, se ve una sombra azul de un hombre. Por lo demás no ves nada, solo el mapa.

Parece muy interesante. Los turnos son de 20 segundos, por lo que he leído, y es difícil de cuidado. Tienes que "rebobinar" para ver
El multiplayer permite jugar con los SAS, los antiterroristas alemanes, etc... muy completito parece. Me está gustando

ok, pues nada no he podido probar la demo me da un error de libreria o algo asï su sistema de protección, cosa más rara

pues no sé, a mí el comprado me va de perlas, y no trae protección.

La demo me da también un error de librería. El StarForce tiene algún problema con el Windows7. Me pasa con otro juego que utiliza este sistema de protección

Pues buceando por el foro me me encontrado este juegazo, es increíble que haya pasado tan desapercibido, a ver si saco tiempo y me pongo a hacer un AAR estilo Haplo para darlo a conocer. Ahora esta a 2.49 euros en gamersgate, es casi una compra obligada.
Boores, o cualquier otro que tenga el juego, si quereis probarlo en multiplayer avisarme.

Por cierto, este es el antecesor del Hired Guns: Jagged Edge, un juego que sacó Matrix hace unos años y que viene a ser un remake del Jagged Alliance 2. Los desarrolladores empezaron a trabajar en JA3 pero lo dejaron por desavenencias con Strategy First. Era un juego extraño - los diálogos eran "raros" del palo "tirando a enfermos" - y más de una vez te mandaba al escritorio... pero tenía un montón de estrategia, y era difícil de narices. Vaya, un gustazo
