-- are we talking to veterans -- Heavily! Many vets involved on team and playtesters. Plus historian John McManus is closely advising. Please take a look at https://burdenofcommand.com/team and scroll down to "military advisors." Our scenario lead designer is former military and did many successful scenarios for Combat Mission. Steve "Mad Russian" Overton.

-- tactical vs RPG -- We're a leadership RPG. But leadership takes place on the battlefield as well as off. So on the battlefield we are very tactical in the spirit of Squad Leader or Steel Panthers or Combat Mission. Off the battlefield is classic RPG with "choose your own adventures" choices like you might see in a a Banner Saga or Shadowrun or any RPG

More detail on tactical. Because we are leader and human focused the battlefield is like Close Combat but with a leadership focus:

Hope this helps,

Awesome.

Another question: will we have "choose the lesser of two evils" choices? You know, the ones in which it's practically impossible to choose a perfect solution and you have to choose what seems the least damaging of a set of options. And not only in tactical or management terms, but in ethical terms (I don't know, as in, you have to choose between sending your squad to clean that house with civilians held by the enemies, and there will be casualties in your team, OR, call artillery and level the house, avoiding casualties but having to face any potential consequences.

I admit that the interest in the game is based in the total different aproximation to the scale in your game compared with other wargames... for example i follow "Second front" (that looks like the true modern succesor of "Steel Panthers"), Lock and Load new game (5 years and still waiting hehehe) and "Valor and victory" (even when original east front images motivated me more) but none of these games cover what "Burden of command" offers.

I am curious of engine could scale one step more and simulate battalion level, instead command platoons, command comapanies... ooo and game is going to offer you control over temporal attached units to help you in your mission??? something like give you 1 platoon of tanks or even decide take the tank platoon or select 1 infantry platoon + a pair of bazookas.

Thanks.

— tough choices — if our choices aren’t tough then we screwed up LOL. Ideally there is never a clear “right” choice only the lesser of two evils, or maybe “your choice for your leadership style.” You might want to watch our first teaser you can find on Steam. 😉 And funny you should mention leveling a building with artillery. I HAVE NO COMMENT 😉

— above company level — our battles are typically roughly single company scale. Getting much larger would require a lot of micromanagement I suspect and might impact performance. But hey you guys probably love Gary Grigsby 😉 so what am I saying LOL! I think he’s great too but don’t have the time anymore :-(

— outside temporary units — definitely. Every rare once in a while you might even get some tank support. But don’t count on it Captain! You’re GIs!

Hey, Luke! Thanks for the answers. Now I am waiting to play the game, and I hope you get enough money to make the Pacific version, so I am able to honour my nickname. :D

Thanks for the info.

Nice see you can receive some cannon fodder to keep your men in rear taking a break of war :P

Expect you can get the money to have a Pacific version, i understand your dad served in a ship because for game follow a seabees unit is an option, you know build in an island secured but not clear of japs :Ok:

Well, at least is going to be different... a game focused more in the war of "moralel combat" could explore a kind of fights where one casualtie is a drama and you cant play like in many wargames, using your worst unit as bait or distraction to secure X objetive... sometimes return all your soldiers to base in one piece is a bigger victory... you allways can return other day to take it.

CM love the games you have in your posts. Played most of then. Especially Steel Panthers. On the boardgame side a lot of Combat Commander and Conflict of Heroes.

Just change the beginning text on one of the videos.
"between 1942-1945, millions of americans left their homes and families to help liberate Europe."
Its just a joke :Ko:
